Equip India Handicrafts (EIH)

Since its inception in 2002 this project has been an income earning source for more than 45 young disabled women from rural areas of Dharwad and Gadag district since many people with disabilities are unable to earn any income because of their restricted abilities, they are considered as “burden” in their families. Thus EIH intervenes to eliminate this stigma by providing an occupation to lead a quality life.

Till date, we have about 45 artisans making different varieties of handicraft items for local and international markets. From the graph below you will see that our numbers of employed artisans is reducing. Due to increased marriage and family commitments as well as external employment opportunities, our numbers of employed artisans are reducing. We encourage their decisions and are thankful to God for the impact that Equip India has had on them to become independent and integrated into society.

Our Future Aspirations are (To achieve)

  • To produce new products with high quality and quantity to meet the requirements of the market.
  • To increase export sales.
  • To incorporate machine embroidery production.
  • To train and employ more disabled artisans
  • To become an international standard organization.

Currently Home workers working: 32 no.s
